Summer’s here and Dee’s here to help you get your skin summer ready with her top summer skincare tips.
Longer days and warmer weather are finally here but with this comes changes to your skin and the need to adapt your summer skincare regime.. Senior Therapist, Dee returns to Obsession Salon & Spa this week, so we thought it was a good chance to get the low-down from her about how to adapt to the hotter weather and keep your skin in tip top condition. With years of experience working in luxurious, high-end spas, Dee brings a wealth of expertise, so her advice is truly invaluable when it comes to caring for your skin.
Tip No. 1: Exfoliation – the basis for all good summer skincare
After months wrapped up during the winter, skin needs a little bit of TLC to look fresh and radiant and exfoliation is where it starts.
A good exfoliation, using high-quality natural ingredients, removes dead skin cells, boosts circulation, and unclogs pores. If you exfoliate regularly you’ll see visible results instantly. Your skin will be softer straight away and will be able to absorb moisture which is your key to brighter, glowing skin.
Every massage and facial we offer at in the spa includes gentle yet effective exfoliation as part of the treatment, so your skin can absorb the maximum benefit of the luxurious products we use in the next step.
Tip No. 2: Kick start your summer skincare with a massage and facial
I always recommend booking a full-body massage and facial at the start of the summer and then topping up once a month. It’s the best way to keep your skin in top condition and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation too.

Tip No. 3: Waxing: a summer essential
In my opinion, waxing is an absolute summer essential. In fact, it’s worth keeping up all year round—but it’s especially handy during the summer months when lighter clothes and bare legs are on show. Smooth, silky skin always feels amazing in the sunshine!
Tip No. 4: Beautiful lashes and no panda eyes
When the temperatures rise, eye make-up has a habit of smudging. A lash treatment is the perfect summer solution for pretty, low-maintenance lashes that won’t smudge!

Tip No.5: SPF: a Non-negotiable during summer
You’ve heard it before, but a daily SPF is crucial during the summer months. A good SPF moisturiser protects against skin cancer and helps prevent premature ageing, so if you want to avoid wrinkles, sagging, and dark spots, invest in a good SPF moisturiser.

Tip No. 6: Serum – your secret to glowing skin
A summer skincare routine isn’t complete without a good serum. Serums deliver concentrated active ingredients deeper into the skin, helping to tackle specific concerns like dehydration, dullness, and uneven tone.
During the warmer months, look for lightweight, hydrating serums packed with antioxidants as these help to protect against sun damage. Always apply your serum before your moisturiser to lock in maximum hydration and keep your skin looking dewy and fresh all day.
Tip No. 7: My last tip: Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate
One last tip that’s easy to forget is to stay hydrated! We all know we should drink more water but if you can, also boost your hydration with water-rich fruit and vegetables. Hydrating from the inside and adopting a good skin care routine on the outside is your best way of keeping your skin plump, clear and hydrated.
