A year in our spa

A year ago we were just about to welcome Laura-Jane back to the salon (though many of you will remember her from when she worked here a few years ago). We can’t believe where this year has gone but thought it was a good opportunity to catch up with Laura-Jane and see what’s been going on.


“It’s been a busy year” says Laura-Jane. “It’s been great to catch up with familiar guests and also welcome new faces too. We’ve added new services to the spa menu and that’s always nice to offer something different. I love offering my reflexology services to guests. It’s a specialist skill that I can bring to the team and it’s amazing how much positivity it can bring to the individual, whether it’s easing their pain, helping to improve circulation or simply to reduce stress. Every guest’s response is unique, and that’s what makes it so special.

Favourite beauty treatments

Two of the my favourite treatments that I’ve provided this year have to be HD Brows and LVL Lashes. I love seeing the instant results and the confidence it gives my guest…their smile when they see them! In fact that goes across all services. I guess that’s why I love my job. Knowing that I’ve made people feel good about themselves is priceless. One of my guests even sent me a little thank you card recently, thanking me for her pedicure and saying how she felt comfortable and welcomed!”

What is your own beauty routine?

When it comes to her own beauty routine, Laura-Jane keeps it simple but consistent: cleansing twice daily, exfoliating twice a week, and keeping her skin hydrated with moisturisers, serums and masks. “Consistency is the key” says Luara-Jane. I have a regular nighttime and daytime routine and am a firm believer in exfoliation, serum and moisturiser. Other things can come and go but they are the key to good healthy skin. I also definitely recommend a facial every 6-8 weeks. No matter how great your skincare routine none of us spend an hour on our skincare and what’s more, a facial is so much more than the products and techniques we use. So many of my guests comment on how just having that hour to themselves, to be pampered and looked after is good for them. It boost your spirits, relaxes you, gives you time to focus and just be. It’s so good for your mental health as well as for your skin.

Any other recommendations for the winter?

Nails! I’m so excited about this year’s nail colours. They’re gorgeous. They’re dark, moody and rich and I love them. My favourites have to be Lincoln Park After Dark, You Don’t Know Jacques!, Vampsterdam and Black Cherry Chutney. They perfectly complement this year’s maroon and berry fashion trends.”
